The San Diego North Convention & Visitors Bureau had created the campaign: "True North: Bring the Business Home San Diego." The purpose of the campaign was to improve the economic situation in San Diego by encouraging businesses to host meetings, conferences, and events in America's Finest City. The concept of a compass was used as a design element to connect with the "True North" name. Color choice was made based on addressing the corporate audience, which included a light and dark blue.
